I thought you’ll find this interesting: The current numbers
for Virginia’s state senate are 20 Republicans and 20 Democrats. On Monday, while
one of the 20 Democrats was away attending Obama’s inauguration, the Republicans
sneaked in a bill that they hurriedly passed. The bill requires the redistricting
of the state’s senate seats: a plan that would give them – the Republicans –
more seats and control of the house for a very long time, if not forever. Despite
a strong protest by the Democrats who asked for the voting to be postponed for
just another day, the bill was pushed through by the Republicans and as expected,
passed with a 20 to 19 margin.
